Rebecca Yarros fans will take anything they can get their hands on from “The Empyrean” series while waiting patiently for books four and five — like the Monopoly board games, Fourth Wing tarot cards, and the companion book, Threshing Day, which arrived Sept. 29. But there’s another treat to tide us over in the meantime. An official first volume of Fourth Wing: The Graphic Novel is currently available for preorder ahead of its April 6, 2027, publication. Written by Yarros and illustrated by Anabel Rossi, the graphic novel is available to preorder in a main edition from several major retailers, while exclusive Barnes & Noble, Target, and Walmart editions offer fans different covers and features.
Already a Number One bestseller on Amazon, the graphic novel is also expected to be the first in a projected multivolume series, bringing more of the sprawling universe to life through both text and illustrations.

Anyone who has read the novels knows there is plenty for an artist to capture, from the terrifying parapet and Basgiath War College to the dragons and their distinctive tail types, as well as the series’ steamy scenes, which contribute to the graphic novel’s 18+ rating. While AI-generated adaptations depicting moments from the series continue to circulate across Instagram and TikTok, the official graphic novel will offer fans an authorized visual interpretation of the world Yarros created.
A Non-Spoiler Summary of Fourth Wing
Violet Sorrengail has spent her life training as a scholar and writer in order to document the continent’s history and military activity in the scribe quadrant of Basgiath War College. But when her mother, the powerful general of the college, forces her to enroll as a dragon rider instead, all hell breaks loose. Every day is an arduous quest for survival, especially when she meets third-year Xaden Riorson, the son of a rebel who was executed by Violet’s mother. But her arch enemy isn’t the only thing she must stay on high alert around, as deadly challenges, merciless fellow cadets, and dangerous dragons dominate every minute of her day.
