Ariana Grande is back with her angriest album to date, Petal, her eighth studio album and first LP of original music since 2024’s Eternal Sunshine. The album was supported by “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The vinyl rollout included numerous variants, including a cloud gray vinyl exclusive to her online store, a classic white edition exclusive to indie stores, and retailer-exclusive editions, including Target, Amazon, and Urban Outfitters. There are also CDs and even a cassette version of the album.
On TikTok, Grande showed off the standard vinyl version of the album, which features photography by frequent collaborator Katia Temkin. The gatefold features a nighttime photograph of Grande in a park, surrounded by a (somewhat spooky) group of eight rabbits she said just showed up — coincidentally, the same number of albums she’s put out. There are also several variant covers, also taken by Temkin.
“Both Eternal Sunshine and the expanded Brighter Days Ahead were ornate and meticulously crafted, but the kick of Petal is that it’s much more loose and spontaneous,” read Rolling Stone’s review. “She’s shooting from the hip, both musically and emotionally.”
Grande is in the midst of her North American tour, which ends on Aug. 6 at the United Center in Chicago. She’ll then head to London for a whopping 10 nights at the O2 Arena. The sold-out Eternal Sunshine tour sees Grande making up for lost time on the road; her last full tour was in 2019. And so far, she’s leaned heavily on the tour’s namesake album, rather than previewing the new album or dusting off the back catalog, but hopefully fans will get to hear the latest songs come to life.
