Let’s hear it for the vinyl of the year: Lorde has officially dropped her new LP, Virgin, four years since her last studio project. With the album’s lead single “What Was That” and subsequent releases like “Hammer” and “Man of the Year,” the album features 11 tracks and marks Lorde‘s first full-length album since Solar Power in 2021.
“There’s going to be a lot of people who don’t think I’m a good girl anymore, a good woman. It’s over,” Lorde said in our Rolling Stone cover story, ahead of Virgin‘s release. “It will be over for a lot of people, and then for some people, I will have arrived. I’ll be where they always hoped I’d be.”

“With Virgin, Lorde excavates parts of herself she has yet to contend with on the public stage — from her evolving gender identity to her family-born traumas,” Rolling Stone‘s Maya Georgi wrote in the Virgin album review. “The result is nearly 40 minutes of undeniable pop bangers and jagged synth flashes where Lorde wipes parts of her past clean and makes room for the adult she has crystallized into.”
