Some people have skeletons in their closet… but we prefer ours in the backyard. And no, we don’t mean actual bones — we’re talking about The Home Depot’s viral 12-foot skeleton, which is still in stock on the mega-retailer’s website at the time of this writing.
The massive piece of Halloween decor first took over the internet back in 2020. Shoppers posted their finds to TikTok and other social platforms, and the skeleton sold out almost instantly, as it has nearly every year since. And while Halloween is still a mere three months away, buyers are already getting a head start on their spooky-season hauls. We can’t promise Skelly, as the giant skeleton is affectionately known, will stick around for long.
The Home Depot Giant-Sized Skelly
$299.00
Going fast!
Listed for $299, the decoration comes loaded with features, including “LCD LifeEyes, movable arms, and app-controlled functions,” per the official description. And if that doesn’t give you the creepy crawlies, then what will? At 12 feet tall, Skelly is roughly the height of a great white shark or a billiards table. In other words, this is not your average tabletop Halloween decoration.
If you prefer a slightly smaller dose of terror, The Home Depot also offers a six-foot version for those who want to scale things back a bit. Reviewers on the company’s website rave about their purchases, calling the skeleton easy to assemble and extremely sturdy, even in intense weather conditions…. We’re looking at you, New England. They also say it’s every bit as creepy and impressive as you’d expect.
And the fun (or the fright) doesn’t stop there. The skeleton can “play music, record voice, and is motion-activated,” says The Home Depot. Meaning no trick-or-treater, goblin, or ghoul can get too close without triggering a little nightmare fuel.
Beyond Skelly, The Home Depot also offers plenty of other spooky animatronics, including a dinosaur, scarecrow, and even the Grim Reaper. But if you like to keep your Halloween decor classic, we suggest grabbing this guy before he disappears for good. And if you miss your chance, we’ve rounded up a few similar options below.
