Billie Eilish‘s acclaimed concert film, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, is coming to the small screen. The film, which was released theatrically in May, will be available to stream on Aug. 6 on Paramount+.
It was co-directed by the seemingly unlikely pairing of Eilish and James Cameron, who helped translate the concert to the big screen in 3D. The documentary was filmed over Eilish’s four-night stretch of shows in Manchester, England, in 2025.
For fans looking to stream the film, Paramount+ is available starting at $8.99/mo. for the Essential plan. The streaming service does not offer a free trial, although a free trial is available as part of a bundle with services like DirecTV or Walmart+. Amazon Prime members can also get a 7-day free trial to Paramount+ Premium as an add-on service to Prime Video.
Produced by Paramount, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour follows Eilish’s previous documentaries and concert films, including the partially animated Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles and Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry.
In an April interview with Rolling Stone, Cameron and Eilish explained the back and forth that led to the film; Cameron wanted to get close with the camera, but Eilish worried about it detracting from the live concert experience. “We had a long creative meeting. It was very collaborative, always pushing her for certain things that were outside of her comfort zone, for sure,” explained Cameron.
And despite the famously large-scale movies Cameron likes to make, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour is an intimate one, focusing heavily on the performance itself. “Like the tour, it all comes down to Eilish and the power of her deeply personal songs,” wrote Rob Sheffield in Rolling Stone’s review of the film. “It’s no behind-the-scenes doc of wacky backstage shenanigans. Nothing distracts from the emotional intimacy of Eilish onstage, belting ‘The Greatest’ or ‘Happier Than Ever,’ on an artistic peak.”
