Keeping up with the news is as crucial as ever. Luckily, DIRECTV just made it more affordable to tune into news channels without a traditional cable package.

DIRECTV’s MyNews Genre Pack costs $44.99 per month and delivers a lineup of popular news channels without the bulk of a traditional cable plan. The streaming package is designed for viewers who want easy access to live news without paying for a larger channel bundle.

If you primarily watch news channels, the MyNews Genre Pack is a great way to save on your live TV streaming bill. The package delivers more than 10 top news channels, including CNN, Fox News, CNBC, C-SPAN, and Bloomberg TV. It also carries local networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox) where available, which means you can also use it to catch select sports and other live events, in addition to the news.

MyNews is one of the five Genre Packs that DIRECTV launched last year. Other Genre Packs available include MySports ($64.99 a month), MyEntertainment ($42.99 a month), MyKids ($20.99 a month), and MiEspañol ($37.99 a month). Each of these packs offers an affordable alternative for people who are cable customers who don’t want to pay for a larger streaming package with every type of network.

In addition to the MyNews discount, DIRECTV is offering a promotion on the MySports Genre Pack. This pack, which carries channels like ESPN, TNT, and local networks, is currently available for just $49.99 a month for your first two months* (down from $64.99 a month).

DIRECTV also offers add-ons to qualifying Genre Packs: MySports Extra ($13.99 a month), MyCinema ($10.99 a month), and MyHome Team ($19.99 a month). (Restrictions apply.)

The best news? All DIRECTV Genre Packs are available with a five-day free trial* so you can check it out before committing. Get a free trial to the discounted MyNews Genre Pack here.
