Some Halloween costumes take weeks of planning. Freaky Nikki, on the other hand, only requires the right clothes, a slightly unsettling stare, and, if you’re really committed, a good backward walk.
Since Obsession hit theaters May 15, Curry Barker’s horror movie has taken on a life of its own off-screen. Its July 17 Peacock debut brought Bear (Michael Johnston) and Nikki (Inde Navarrette) to an even bigger audience, while TikTok has been busy doing what TikTok does best: recreating the looks, reenacting scenes, and turning Freaky Nikki into a character instantly recognizable to fellow fans.
With that kind of online afterlife, it’s easy to see why the movie is already shaping up to be a source of Halloween inspiration this October.
