There are a lot of Bluetooth speakers, but no brand has captured the market quite like JBL. The Southern California company’s offerings range from the suitcase-sized Partybox to the backpack-friendly Clip, which are popular for their durability, sound quality, and loudness.
The latest speaker in the brand’s roster is the JBL Grip. It retails for $100 and is available to preorder today, with a wide release scheduled for Sept. 28, 2025.

► Bluetooth 5.4
► Auracast-compatible
► Up to 14 hours of battery life
Size-wise, the new style fits between the mid-sized Flip and palm-sized Clip speakers, making it a flexible option for on-the-go use. The Grip was inspired by the proportions of a seltzer can, according to JBL.
The speaker is characteristically rugged, with an IP68 rating that protects it from dust, water, and accidental drops. The Grip speaker also features a rope loop on the back, which can be clipped onto bags or bikes. As for battery life, JBL claims a battery life of up to 12 hours, although you can squeeze up to two extra hours using Playtime Boost.
The 16W speaker features Bluetooth 5.4, with support for Auracast. That means you can pair multiple JBL speakers for stereo or multi-speaker sound. It’s compatible with the JBL app, with a 7-band EQ. The app also lets you control the built-in light strip, found on the back of the speaker. As for the on-board controls, the speaker features intuitive volume and playback buttons on the front.
There are a couple of extras you won’t get; there’s no built-in microphone or Aux port. Still, the Grip is shaping up to be one of JBL’s most versatile speakers.
