Sony’s Bravia line has long been a favorite of home theater enthusiasts, and while the line has typically come with a high price tag, Sony is adding an affordable soundbar to its lineup. The Bravia Theater Bar 6, announced today, has three front-firing speakers, dual up-firing speakers, and comes with a subwoofer.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but it’s expected to be less expensive than the Bar 9 and 8 soundbars, which have 13 and 11 built-in speakers, respectively. The new releases commemorate Sony Bravia’s 20th anniversary, and are expected to add to Sony’s legacy of audio excellence.

The new 3.1.2ch soundbar includes a wireless subwoofer and features Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Pricing and availability will be announced later in the spring.
Sony’s new soundbar adds to its impressive lineup of home theater solutions, including the ultra-sleek (and expensive) Bravia Theater Quad, which was one of our favorite audio releases from the last year. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatibility in the Theater Bar 6 is designed to create a surround-sound experience, and the soundbar can be paired with the new Theater Rear 8 speakers, also announced today. Sony has long been a favorite for audio gear, and their new all-in-one offerings make the home theater experience much easier.
Sony also announced the Bravia Theater System 6, which includes a subwoofer, two rear speakers, and a soundbar, as well as a compact hub that wirelessly controls all of the components. It’s designed to provide a surround-sound experience without the fuss of a traditional home AV system.
Sony is also adding new TVs to its Bravia line, plus the Bravia Projector 7 for home theater fans who want to get as close to the silver screen experience from their couch. The Bravia Projector 9 and Bravia Projector 8 retail for over $30,000 and $15,000, respectively, and the Projector 7 is expected to be a more affordable solution.
Like the other Sony products announced today, price details are not yet available, with details expected later in spring. In the meantime, you can pick up one of Sony’s other soundbars below.
